Membrane Assisted Solvent Extraction MASE

Water analysis can be complicated if the sample contains a large proportion of suspended substances and foreign particles. Liquid-Liquid extraction is one possibility but is relatively demanding regarding solvent and time.

MASE is a technique where the liquid phases are separated with a semi-permeable membrane and offer solvent extraction with low volumes of solvent.

The solvent addition, and the extraction procedure is done automatically by the MPS.

After addition of the sample, MASE can be performed fully automated by the MPS and embedded into sample preparation procedures. Solvent is added on the “other side” of the membrane. Extracts can be directly injected into GC or GC/MS systems by Large Volume Injection LVI.
