Seminar/Workshop sensory analysis using the Heracles E-nose
The seminar will focus on sensory analysis for the distinction of different products that are otherwise close in their sensory properties.
Coffee is a good example – we will provide and discuss data that was acquired on our own Heracles instrument.
Other examples of the use of the AlphaMOS sensory analysis instruments will be provided:
1) The HERACLES E-nose with measurements based on gas chromatography
2) The IRIS electronic eye based on color and shape.
3) The ASTREE electronic tongue based on electrochemical sensors mimicking one or more of the taste characteristics: sourness, saltiness, sweetness, bitterness and umami.
The analysis of data acquired with any of the three AlphaMOS instruments is based on multivariate statistical analysis / principal component analysis. The use of the instruments is not limited to taste, smell or color, though – the Heracles E-nos can as an example be employed for quality analysis of raw materials in various production environments.
We will have our own Heracles E-nose instrument running. Thus, you have the option of bringing your own samples. Contacts us if you need further information about the kind of samples that could be relevant.
